1. Get your Z's 
There is still a lot that is  unknown about the relationship between depression and sleep, but there is definitely a connection! Each individual has different sleep needs, but the experts say that getting a good nights rest is a sure fire way to improve your mood. 2. Bask in the sunlight
Spending from five-to-30 minutes in the sun  between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at least twice a week and concentration the sunlight on onest face, arms, legs, or back can help to decrease some symptoms of depression in some people. Why? Well studies have shown that people who are vitamin D-deficient can suffer some not so nice affects, such as possibly being affected by depression or other mood disorders, (MayoClinic.com) Strong associations have been found between vitamin D deficiency and depression. You may also increase your vitamin D levels by eating more fatty fish:  salmon, tuna and mackerel -- and fish liver oils.

3. Stand Tall
Choose a power pose and stand confidently. Place your hands on your hips, stick out your chest and lift your head up high! Believe it or not by simply changing the position you sit or stand you can drastically improve your mood...that beautiful mind body connection shows its head again

4. Natural Supplements

5. Spend Quality time with the your Creator
This one is a given! Any time spent in the presence of God can have a dramatic lasting affect on your mood and it doesn't have to be a complicated ritual. Simply giving thanks for His provision, taking time out to sing/listen to a worship or praise song, meditation on His promises  all have the potential to pull you out of whatever slump you find yourself in.

From my heart... Being a mental health professional I hear people talk about depression and mental illness all day everyday. I read the statistics and reports about the "system" failing individuals quite frequently, But, when tragedy hits close to home it can be a LOUD  wake-up call!
