Going into a new year we all have goals and resolutions that we want to accomplish, but what's the one thing that can help you get to where you want to be? This one thing is universal, no matter who or where you are this will aid your journey of arriving to your destination. What is this you might ask...Confidence of coarse! below are 3 tips to quickly improve your self-confidence
1. Quick Fix
The absolute quickest way to improve your immediate thoughts about yourself or a situation is to change your posture. There is an amazing mind body connection that can either serve you or be destructive to you so let’s choose to use it for our benefit. Try it now “The Hero Pose” straighten your back and make your shoulders line up with the bottom of your ears and slightly raise your head up towards the ceiling. Now place your hands on your hips and raise your chest as if you were a super hero. Now for an even greater effect stand up and assume “The Hero Pose” take a couple of deep breathes and take notice of how this stance makes you feel. What I like about this exercise is that it can be done almost anywhere and it gives an almost immediate change/increase in feelings of confidence. This is an example of how one’s actions can influence their thoughts. This pose is great to use when you’re preparing for an interview or when you’re preparing to approach that special someone that has caught your eye.
2.Move Your Body
Yes you knew this one was coming so lets go ahead and get it out of the way, Exercise. I am in no way suggesting that your go out today and run a marathon, I am saying take a walk around your neighborhood or a quick set of squats. If you are new to the world of movement it may be best to start by doing some simple stretches (neck rolls, shoulder rolls, reaching for the floor and ceiling etc), but always remember to consult a physician before beginning any exercise program. The reason exercise is always on a list of to do’s is because of the endorphins which are your body’s natural feel good chemical. Once endorphins start flowing you can’t help but feel more confident.
3. SMILE
Plain and simple put a smile on your face! Even if It’s the fakest most forced smile you’ve ever seen you can still reap the benefits from smiling. Again we run upon this mind body connection, holding a smile for at least 60 seconds or more causes a reaction that releases those feel good hormones in your body. If you feel good you are automatically a more confident version of yourself.
